Too often instrument pilots have fallen into a trap, relying on technology as a crutch instead of an aid. Developers of this technology intended it to augment situational awareness of the pilot in command, not replace it. What happens when you go flying and cannot receive a signal from more than two satellites for your GPS or you planned to use a VOR that happens to be out of service for repairs that day? Every pilot needs to refresh their skills, and continue the learning process to be a better pilot.
